FCSO: Scammers Trying To Get Money Through 'Christmas With A Deputy'

Bunnell, FL - Authorities in Flagler County are urging residents to be wary of any calls they might get from someone soliciting donations for a Sheriff's Office holiday program.

Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly says his office has received complaints of scammers using a local number to get money for FCSO's 'Christmas With A Deputy'.

"It is a shame that anyone would take such a great event and prey on [the] generosity of our community," Staly added. "We want everyone to be aware of this latest holiday scam."

'Christmas With A Deputy' is a private non-profit organization supported by FCSO.

One of the numbers the scammers appear to be using is 386-410-1667, according to Staly.

"If you receive a phone call from anyone asking for a donation to ‘Christmas With A Deputy’, hang up," Staly noted. "The program will never solicit contributions in this manner."

Anyone who gets a call like this is urged to call FCSO's non-emergency line at 386-313-4911 and report it.

Anyone who wants to donate to 'Christmas With A Deputy' can reach out to FCSO Commander Lou Miceli at the Flagler County Courthouse in Bunnell.
