FCSO: Man Posing As Detective In Phone Scam

Posted

Flagler County, FL - Flagler County Sheriff's Office told us about a man posing as a detective in a phone scam.

A resident made contact with FCSO on Monday saying that he received a call from someone who identified themselves as Detective Dennis Rumble from the Sheriff's Office. They then advised the resident that they were the subject of an investigation.

FCSO then told the resident no one by the name of Dennis Rumble is employed by the Sheriff's office.

When actual detectives with FCSO contacted the number they found a voicemail set up where the person does represent themselves as an employee.

"Past experience with scams like these usually involves scare tactics attempting to get payment in the form of gift cards or cash to stay out of legal trouble," said Sheriff Rick Staly. "Don't become a victim. When in doubt, call the Sheriff's Office and let us verify the information you've been given."

Anyone with information regarding this is urged to call FCSO at 386-313-4911 and mention case number 2018-63743. Anyone that would need to verify any information received with the FCSO may also call 386-437-4116
