FCSO Congratulates 6 Inmates Who Completed Anger Management Program

Flagler County, FL - Six inmates at the Flagler County Detention Facility graduated with certificates for completing an anger management program.

The 2-year-old program is strictly voluntary and is designed to help the inmates change their behavior by discussing triggers to anger, ways to correct behaviors, and anger management plans.

FCSO Chaplain Ed Reistetter explained that the inmates have learned different ways to deal with their anger by remembering that they have a "tool belt." This includes breathing exercises, muscle relaxation, and practicing respect.

Students had to do weekly homework in order to complete the program. "They get insight into their own behavior. They live with each other so they hold each other accountable," said Reistetter.

Sheriff Rick Staly, who is one of the directors of Offender Rehabilitation and Inmate Services said, "My goal is to help them become productive citizens when they leave our Green Roof Inn".
