Palm Coast, FL - On Wednesday morning, Flagler County Sheriff's Office (FCSO) deputies arrested the man who gave a false name during a double shooting investigation in Palm Coast. 21-year-old Michael McRoberts Jr. was critically injured during the double shooting that took place at 28 Seamanship Trail in Palm Coast on November 13, and he was driven to Florida Hospital Flagler for a gunshot wound. While at the hospital, McRoberts gave a false name and date of birth to officials. He was transferred to another hospital and positively identified as McRoberts. Officials later discovered that McRoberts gave a false name because he had an active felony warrant for a violation of probation charge. FCSO says that because he gave a false name, hospital staff is stuck with over $5,000 in bills. McRoberts was originally arrested for his active violation of probation charge on November 20, but he was released on his own recognizance. Wednesday, McRoberts was arrested for fraudulent use of personal identification, resisting arrest without violence, and violation of probation. According to FCSO, McRoberts was arrested at the probation office while he was trying to arrange to be transferred to Miami. He planned to live there with Brooklynn Marino, the woman who fled the scene of the shooting and anonymously dropped him off at the hospital. “We’ve worked with the State Attorney’s Office to take McRoberts back into custody on charges resulting from the shooting,” says Sheriff Rick Staly. “It is our hope he will be held without bond. He is a dangerous criminal that has already served time in state prison and used a false name to avoid capture, was involved in a shooting, and then, in less than one day after being released to home confinement by a judge, was trying to manipulate the system and flee to the Miami area. McRoberts needs to be off the streets and secured in the Green Roof Inn where he cannot commit any more crimes.” McRoberts was booked into the Flagler County Detention Facility.
