Daytona Beach, FL-Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is expanding its tobacco-free campus policy to include electronic cigarettes and vaping products. The Daytona Beach campus will now be totally off-limits.
The university is also looking at the policy as it applies to ERAU-owned and rented property and in vehicles. The current policy, in place since 2013, says tobacco use is not allowed on school property, school-owned vehicles or rented property according to school officials who say that earlier change has resulted in a significant decrease in tobacco use at the university.
The change to include things like electronic vaping comes after a recent Youth Tobacco Survey which found teens are increasing their use of those products while decreasing use of traditional tobacco products.
