Daytona Beach, FL – In an event on Tuesday, the seven Central Florida-based companies and organizations that have partnered with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Research Park were announced.

The International Speedway Corporation (ISC), DuvaSawko, Cobb Cole, FireSpring Fund, James Moore & Co., Vann Data Services, and venVelo will all be housed in the University’s John Mica Engineering and Aerospace Innovation Complex, otherwise known as the MicaPlex.

ISC and DuvaSawko EM Billing & Management Solutions both signed on as Nexus Partners, positioning themselves to influence, contribute to, and gain access to businesses that will bring new technology enterprises to Volusia County and Central Florida.

The complex is named after US Representative John Mica (R-FL) to honor the role he’s played in supporting ERAU’s educational and research endeavors, including the development of the MicaPlex – a 50,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art innovation hub designed to foster research in aviation, space, engineering, unmanned systems, and the environment.

“This is a unique collaborative opportunity not only for our partners and start-up companies but for our students, staff, and faculty,” said Embry-Riddle Interim President Dr. Karen A. Holbrook. “The diversity and depth of experience that these partners represent provide a comprehensive suite of services for future leaders of tomorrow – whether they be students, local businesses or national organizations.”

The complex announcement bodes well for Volusia County and Central Florida, but it struck a more personal chord with Congressman Mica. “It’s pretty darn exciting for a guy who took the bus past Embry-Riddle in Miami when I was in high school in the 1950s,” said Mica after the event on Tuesday. “A very special day in my life.”
