New Smyna Beach, FL - On Monday, November 28, enhanced services will be returning to the Department of Health in New Smyrna Beach.

The DOH-Volusia location in New Smyrna Beach is at 717 W. Canal St. This makes the NSB location the 3rd full-service location - the others are in Orange City and Daytona Beach.

Those services were cut about a year ago due to staffing, and New Smyrna Beach residents have had to make a bit of a treck to get these services since then. “The community told us they need services they can access,” said DOH-Volusia Administrator Patricia Boswell. “By resuming services in New Smyrna Beach, our clients no longer will have to travel to our Daytona Beach or Orange City locations for care. We are removing one barrier to better health simply by improving access for the people we serve.”

Those services include child and adult immunizations, travel immunizations, family planning, pregnancy testing, and testing and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases. Environmental Health services and the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program will still operate on site.

Additionally, plans are underway to add dental care for children and emergency dental care for adults by the summer of 2017.

“The Southeast Volusia community expressed a need for enhanced services,” said Boswell. “By offering more in New Smyrna Beach, we are improving access to care, which is key to improving the health of the community.”

Clients can use any DOH-Volusia location. For a list of locations and services go to VolusiaHealth.com.
