EMS Workers Honored at Florida Hospital Flagler

Bunnell, FL - This week, Florida Hospital Flagler recognizes those who are first to act in emergencies.

First responders across the county were treated to a barbecue lunch and ice cream at Florida Hospital Flagler on Wednesday.

Fire Rescue Chief Don Petito says that Florida Hospital Flagler "made sure they served crews from every shift from all departments throughout the county."

It's part of the 43rd Annual Emergency Medical Services Week, which runs this week, May 21-27, and acknowledges the lifesaving work that EMS workers do every day.

The annual celebration was authorized in 1974 by President Gerald Ford to honor the dedication of those who work around the clock to provide the first line of medical care.
