Daytona Beach, FL-The emergency homeless shelter at the Salvation Army on Ballough Road had been set to close today, but will remain open for another week. The reprieve comes after a plan for a temporary shelter at a city-owned building near Halifax Marina and Beach Street fell apart during a meeting last week. The report from The Daytona Beach News Journal is here.  The shelter was first opened on an emergency basis after homeless people camped out outside the county building on Beach Street. It was supposed to be in effect for 90 days but was extended by another 90 days. Check back for updates on this developing story.
