Quebec, Canada - An Embry-Riddle University alumnus has been named as one of the Canadian Space Agency's newest astronauts.

During celebrations for the 150th anniversary of the Canadian Confederation, Prime Minister Justin Tredeau announced that Jennifer Sidey and Joshua Kutryk (an ERAU Eagle) were the two new recruits.

Kutryk, 35, is from Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Canada, and has a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Masters in Defence Studies from the Royal Military College in Kingston, Ontario. He also has a Masters in Space Studies from ERAU and a Masters in Flight Test Engineering from the US Air Force's Air University in Alabama.

Before he joined the Canadian Space Program, Kutryk worked as an experimental test pilot and fighter pilot in Cold Lake, Alberta, where he led the unit that flight tested Canada's fighter aircraft.
