DeLand, FL -Volusia County Supervisor of Elections Lisa Lewis is trying out something new to help visually and print impaired voters and has unveiled an audio sample ballot phone line.  Lewis says she got the idea from something similar being done in Duval County. The phone line service here isn't exactly the same, but Lewis says it was adapted for what the county already had on hand with the audio used for ExpressVote which is the accessible voting equipment. That was combined into one audio ballot and made available by phone at 386-254-4688. The Department of Elections teamed up with the County Information Technology Division to put together the sample ballot of candidate races and county and state amendments pertaining to Volusia County. Lewis says after the election she hopes to be able to get some information on how many local voters accessed the line and wants to get the word out about the new option. The election is November 8.   2016 Southern Stone Communications Copyright
