Earth Day Fair At Stetson Kicks Off Two Weeks Of Environmental Fun

Posted

DeLand, FL- Stetson University will be hosting it's annual Earth Day celebration on campus led by a coalition of student organizations.  Over two weeks students will lead activities to demonstrate support for environmental protection including an Earth Day Fair on Monday, April 16th.  Fair activities will include live music, outdoor games, information booths and eco-printing workshop.  The free event is open to the public and will take place from 1:30-3:30 pm on the lawn of Sage Science Center at  136 E. Minnesota Ave., DeLand, Florida, 32723.

Attendees can also learn about Stetson's sustainability initiatives and how to live a sustainable lifestyle.  Stetson Beekeeping will sell honey, discuss honey bee conservation and offer a foraging game.  Other student organizations will host games, display art and offer live music performances.

“There are many facets of our campus community that work toward the goal of improving environmental sustainability,” said senior student Sarah Coffey, Stetson University Environmental Fellow and Earth Week event organizer for the past three years. “Earth Day provides a platform to educate the community about what Stetson is doing, as well as what still needs to be done for the environment. It’s a day to share ideas and to be inspired, and I believe that inspiration leads to change.”
