Volusia County, FL- Early voting for the August 30 primary begins on Saturday in Volusia County. Volusia County Supervisor of Elections Lisa Lewis is experiencing her first primary as the boss. She was deputy under Ann McFall, who retired earlier this year.
Lewis said they had a good turnout for voter registration, with 2,678 during the month of July. Even though it's too late to vote in the primary, Lewis said people are coming in to get registered for the general election in November.
The number of registered voters breaks down this way: Democrats - 125,231, Republicans - 123,542 and Libertarians - 792. Minor parties and non-affiliated registered voters number right around 112,000.
Lewis said they have mailed out more than 72,000 vote-by-mail ballots and received a little more than 23,000 ballots back at this time.
Early voting does begin on Saturday. Lewis said the five locations for early voting will be open from this Saturday, August 20 through the following Saturday, August 27, every day, including Sunday, from 8 A.M. until 5 P.M.
