Palm Coast, FL- An accident involving an allegedly intoxicated woman shut down northbound I-95 at MM 289 in Palm Coast early this morning. An FCSO deputy talked to 24-year-old Charlotte Mae Johnson in a convenience store just after midnight. His report states that he greeted Johnson while she was in line. She responded but the report states that she was unsteady and had slurred speech. The report goes on to state that the deputy followed Johnson out of the store to make sure she wasn't driving. He saw her get into the driver's seat of a Toyota van parked at a gas pump. The deputy commanded Johnson to stop as he walked toward the front of the van. The report states that she accelerated and the deputy had to jump out of the way. The deputy reported that Johnson got on northbound I-95. She hit a guardrail near MM289 and the road had to be shut down due to the severity of the crash. Johnson offered one of the deputies her pocketbook in order to locate her license. A pink pill, identified as oxycodone and a bag with marijuana in it were found in the pocketbook. Johnson is charged with assault on a law enforcement officer, possession of oxycodone and possession of under 20 grams of marijuana.
