Domestic Violence Suspect Surrenders After Taking Hostage In Daytona Beach

Daytona Beach, FL-Police in Daytona Beach have taken a suspect into custody after a four-hour standoff involving a hostage at a residence in the 200 block of Madison Avenue. Negotiators and SWAT were at the scene where the suspect had allegedly been involved in a violent argument with his girlfriend around 3:30AM. The suspect is identified as 27-year-old Joshua Jacobs. When police arrived, he went back inside with her and refused to come out. He threatened to kill himself, his girlfriend and police if anyone tried to enter. He surrendered around 7:30 AM after tear gas was deployed into the residence. Jacobs is charged with two counts of aggravated assault on a police officer and domestic battery. No weapons were found in the residence. His 22-year-old alleged victim and hostage was treated at the scene for minor bruises to her back. Jacobs is held at the branch jail on no bond.
