Daytona Beach, FL-The Daytona Beach Half Marathon Feb. 4 will bring heavy traffic to the area of the Daytona International Speedway, and motorists should expect morning traffic delays. Those coming to the airport Sunday morning should plan to take Williamson Boulevard or Thames Road to Midway Avenue, which will bring them in from the west side of the airport. The ninth annual Daytona Beach Half Marathon, which starts at 7:30 a.m., begins inside Daytona International Speedway. The course continues through the city of Daytona Beach along Orange Avenue and other neighborhood streets, through City Island Park, over the Intracoastal bridge, to the beach, then back to the Speedway along International Speedway Boulevard. One eastbound lane will be closed to motorists. Traffic control will be provided at major intersections along the race's route and other intersections will be barricaded. Motorists can expect intersections to be closed until approximately 10 a.m. Police personnel will periodically open the intersections to cross traffic during the road race, and detour signs will be posted.
