DeSantis Files Amendment To Defund & Limit Scope Of Trump-Russia Investigation

Posted

Florida - US Representative Ron DeSantis has filed an amendment that would stop funding for the investigation into the Trump campaign's ties to Russia, six months after the amendment's passage, and would prohibit the special counsel from investigating anything that happened before June 2015, when Donald Trump launched his presidential campaign.

The Palm Coast Republican, who represents much of Volusia and Flagler Counties, filed the amendment as part of the government spending package, which includes hundreds of amendments, that the House is expected to consider when members come back next week from their August recess.

In a statement on special counsel Robert Mueller, DeSantis said his appointment "didn't identify a crime to be investigated," adding that it "practically invites a fishing expedition."

Several House Democrats are supporting amendments that would protect special counsel Mueller's investigation.
