Deltona Woman Arrested After Stealing 47 Guns From Disabled Father's Collection

Deltona, FL – A Deltona woman has been arrested after stealing and pawning her disabled father’s gun and knife collection. The victim and owner of the guns, 58-year-old Robert Carter, suffered a stroke last year and has since been bedridden. His 30-year-old daughter, Crystal Gorman, then moved in to take care of him. On October 13, the victim’s sister reported the collection as missing to Volusia County Sheriff’s Office deputies. Carter has been living in a rehabilitation center since September. After Hurricane Irma, Carter was worried about his collection after a tree had fallen on his house in Osteen. He sent his sister and a friend to check on it and they found that 47 firearms and a knife set were missing. An investigation uncovered that Gorman had been pawning the guns since April 2017. Carter had a list of the most special guns in his collection as well as the serial numbers. Many firearms had already been resold but the ones that were able to be tracked down were identified as Carter’s. On Thursday, October 26, Gorman was arrested and charged with grand theft, 19 counts of dealing in stolen property and 19 counts of Violation of the Pawn Broker’s Act.
