Deltona To Host Opioid Crisis Seminar

Deltona, FL - A seminar designed to address an ongoing crisis and its local impact is scheduled along with a presentation by a local law enforcement figure.

The City of Deltona has announced they will hold a public meeting, known as C. A. R. E (Creating Awareness and Resource Education), that will discuss the ongoing opioid crisis, and what effect it has locally on Volusia County.

Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood is also scheduled to attend the event with an opening presentation.

Some of the other presentations include a review of programs available from Stewart-Marchman-Act Behavioral Healthcare and a discussion on how Emergency Medical Services uses Narcan to reverse the effects of opioid overdose.

A panel discussion and Q&A session will follow the event, with representatives from the Sherrif's Office, Stewart-Marchman-Act, Halifax Health and other community partners present.

The event begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday (November 17th), at Deltona City Hall located off of 2345 Providence Boulevard, about a mile south of its intersection with Howland Boulevard.
