Deltona Sex Offender Busted By FDLE For Child Porn

Deltona, FL - A registered sex offender living in Deltona is back in the cross-hairs of the law, this time for having child pornography.

52-year-old David M. Nye was arrested today by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement on 14 counts of child porn possession and two counts of promoting child porn.

FDLE spokeswoman Angela Starke says agents with Homeland Security and the Volusia County Sheriff's Office helped out in Nye's arrest.

"During the investigation, agents learned that Nye was uploading files from a specific IP address with suspected child pornography," Starke added. "After obtaining and executing a search warrant at Nye's home, agents found evidence of child pornography on digital devices."

Investigators say Nye not only downloaded child porn at his Eagles Nest Avenue home but also made similar images available for others to download via the Internet, including the FDLE agents who were investigating him.

VCSO is also looking into a marijuana growing operation found in Nye's home when FDLE raided it, according to Starke.

"VCSO investigators are reviewing [that] case," Starke noted.

Nye - who is currently held without bond at Volusia County Jail - made it onto the registered sex offender list because of a 1996 lewd and lascivious conviction in Seminole County.
