Deltona HS Student Makes Social Media Threat

Deltona, FL - A Deltona High School student is facing charges after making threats on Instagram, saying she'll help blow up her school.

Yesterday (March 12th), Volusia County Sheriff's Office launched an investigation into a threat made against a high school by a 15-year-old student.

According to VCSO, the threat was made around six o'clock that night on an Instagram Live post of the student saying: "Expel me for saying this but when that one white kid comes to school and he blow y'all (EXPLETIVE) up, I'm helping him."

The student didn't specify who the "white kid" was and what school she was referring to.

Detectives tried to search for the username used to make the video, but could not find it, which meant the account could have been deleted.

Later on, the school resource deputy assigned to Deltona HS said he knew who the student was that made the threat.

A search of the 15-year-old's juvenile criminal history showed she had priors for battery, disturbing the peace and disturbing a school function.

VCSO eventually found the student at her home, where they made contact with her mother.

The 15-year-old teen was placed into custody, and while her Miranda Rights were read, her mother told her not to tell law enforcement anything.

When detectives described the investigation to her, she immediately uttered "this is because of that."

The student was transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice, where she was processed.
