DeLand Trying To Fill Vacant City Commission Seat

Posted

DeLand, FL - The city of DeLand is seeking applicants for the newly created vacancy on the city commission.

Seat 2 is now open after Governor Scott suspended Jeffrey Hunter following his drug arrest last month.

Hunter has entered a not guilty plea in the case, which is related to an extortion attempt last year.

Whoever is appointed could be there until the November 2020 election or may end up leaving sooner should Hunter's suspension be lifted.

Anyone who wants to apply can do so online through the city's website.

The deadline for application is by the end of business day on July 31st.

City officials hope to have whoever's chosen in place by August 20th.
