app-store DeLand, FL - The city of DeLand is launching a new app this week to give residents easy access to local news, information, and services. The "Our DeLand" app will be available for free, beginning Wednesday, on iPhone and Android devices. It can be found by searching "OurDeLand" in the mobile app store. “As technology continues to advance, the City of DeLand wants to be responsive to that,” said City Manager Michael Pleus. “We feel this is another way for us to provide the best service to our residents.” The app will let residents file requests which will be forwarded to the appropriate city department, effectively replacing the Website's Q&A section. “Gone are the days when citizens would have to wait to report an issue, and forget about it because of a busy schedule,” said Keith LeBeau, president and CEO of QScend Technologies. “Whether input by staff or by citizen, a request in QAlert never falls through the cracks.” The app is also an easy way to find upcoming events and keep up with city news. It will also connect people to the city's Facebook and Twitter accounts. Photo courtesy ymgerman and Shutterstock.com. deland-app
