DeLand, FL - Yet another IRS phone scam is making the rounds... this time in DeLand.

The DeLand Police Departments wants residents to be aware of an IRS phone scam thats been reported to them several times recently.

Scammers demand financial information from the victim. They then tell the victim to pay a bill or send cash using a debit card or through a wire transfer.

Anyone who gets a call like this from someone who claims to be from the IRS, a bank, a financial institution, or a government agency should hang up - this is a scam.

Police are asking that anyone who receives one of these calls take note of the phone number from caller ID. Then, file a complaint online with the Federal Trade Commission or call 1-877-FTC-HELP (382-4357).
