DeLand Police Officers Investigating Possible Stabbing Of Homeless Man

DeLand, FL - DeLand Police Officers are investigating a possible stabbing that took place in DeLand Thursday morning.

According to the DeLand Police Department, detectives responded to the vicinity of Euclid Ave. and High Street, at about 6 AM, Thursday, March 23, regarding a man who had been found stabbed in the abdomen. EVAC arrived and the man was transported by air to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach as a trauma alert.

The DeLand Police Department reports, the victim was a homeless, Hispanic man who was walking to his resting place when a Black man, in all black clothing and on a bicycle without lights, accidentally struck him. The 2 men began to argue and the Black man stabbed the Hispanic man, then took off on his bike heading eastbound on Euclid Ave.

Detectives searched the area for the knife and questioned homeowners nearby, who said they didn't see or hear anything regarding the incident.

Information about this case is still being gathered by DeLand Police Department detectives, including the condition of the victim.
