DeLand, FL - A 50-year-old man is in the hospital and a 51-year-old man is in custody following a stabbing at a North DeLand laundromat.

The DeLand Police Department says it happened around 1:30 p.m. at Boulevard Laundry on 1341 North Woodland Boulevard, just north of the US 92/International Speedway Boulevard intersection.

DeLand PD spokesman Chris Graham says the man in the hospital is in critical but stable condition after being stabbed in the neck.

"A dispute apparently broke out in the parking lot," Graham added. "The suspect was on scene when police arrived and was taken into custody."

We've since learned that the suspect is Terrance Calkins of DeLand. He's facing a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

Detectives have said the investigation is ongoing but did note that both men were doing laundry when the argument broke out.

"It is unknown what sparked the altercation and whether the two men knew each other before the incident," Graham noted.

The victim is now at Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach after being taken initially to Florida Hospital DeLand.
