DeLand Man Who Stalked & Held Ex-Girlfriend At Gunpoint Turns Himself In

DeLand, FLUpdate: The man who, according to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office, stalked his ex-girlfriend, hid in her car, and held her at gunpoint has turned himself in. Jason Jurado, 19, turned himself in on Monday night. He's being held at the Volusia County Branch Jail without bond. Earlier Reporting: The Volusia County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in finding a DeLand man who stalked his ex-girlfriend, hid in her car, and held her at gunpoint. On Monday, 19-year-old Jason Jurado was reported by his ex-girlfriend after she found him hiding in the back seat of her car after she dropped her children off with a babysitter in DeLand. Jurado climbed into the front seat and began loading a gun. Jurado held the gun to his ex-girlfriend's head and told her to drive, according to a report from the Sheriff's Office. Jurado took his ex-girlfriend's phone, and when she tried to stop him, he struck her hand with the gun. She was able to pull into a parking lot and attempted to honk her horn for help. Jurado fled on foot when a passerby looked over at the vehicle. The ex-girlfriend drove off and found the first officer she could. Jurado also has a history of stalking and terrorizing the woman, according to the Sheriff's Office. On Saturday, he broke down her bedroom door and forced his way inside before running away. Jurado, who has been named Sheriff Mike Chitwood's latest "SCUMBAG of the Week," is not a U.S. citizen, but his last known address is 406 Wade Ave. in DeLand. He has a Mexican ID number E14051287. Jurado is 5-foot-6, 160 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. He had an active warrant for burglary of an occupied dwelling and criminal mischief, which carried a total bond of $5,500. He is now wanted on additional charges of aggravated stalking, armed burglary, tampering with a witness, grand theft, and other charges. These new charges carry no bond.
