DeBary, FL - A judge hands down a sentence of two years for a DeBary man who was caught making explosives in his home.
But, court records show he's only going to serve a few months instead.
Back in November of 2017, the Volusia County Sheriff's Office received a call about a domestic disturbance at a home off of Bradwick Circle in DeBary.
There is where deputies say 31-year-old Christopher Langer was in an argument with his parents while he was intoxicated.
His parents told VCSO that he had put an explosive substance inside of a grenade, which Langer said didn't exist.
However, Langer later admitted that he did make a grenade and threw it in the backyard. After showing it to deputies, VCSO evacuated the home and, after obtaining a search warrant, found an estimated 200 containers filled with unknown powders, acids, and other materials.
Langer was arrested and charged with making and possession destructive devices, he has been held without bond since.
Fast forward to 2019, yesterday (May 15th), Langer stood in front of Judge James Clayton in Daytona Beach, who handed down Langer a sentence of two years in state prison.
But, court documents show that Judge Clayton is crediting Langer with 553 days of jail time served, meaning that Langer will only have to serve 177 days in prison, which comes out to just under six months.
Langer will also have to serve eight years of probation upon release.
