Daytona Beach, FL – Update: A suspect has been arrested in connection with the burglary at Volusia Gold and Diamond in Daytona Beach during Hurricane Irma. Pedro Pinckney, 26, was arrested after an investigation uncovered he was the one who stole several firearms from Volusia Gold and Diamond during Hurricane Irma. According to the police reports, the inclement weather prevented the alarms and camera from working properly, giving Pinckney the opportunity to grab several firearms and pieces of jewelry. The burglary was discovered after the door to the business was found open and swaying the wind. The locks were broken off and a 4-foot by 4-foot hole was discovered in the wall that leads into the inside of the store. Blood was found at the point of entry and was submitted into evidence. Pinckney now faces charges of armed burglary of an unoccupied structure during a state of emergency, grand theft of a firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, violating probation, and possessing marijuana under 20 grams. The firearms police say he stole have yet to be found.
