Daytona Beach, FL - The Daytona Beach Police Officer involved in a shooting back in September has resigned following an internal investigation.

Officer Michelle Smith told investigators that she was walking her dog on the morning of September 8 when she got into an altercation with a group of people, who ended up shooting at her while they drove away. Smith said she fired back in self-defense, but investigators say she was the instigator and had been drinking.

Smith resigned on Friday, claiming the investigation wasn't honest or complete.
