DBPD Investigating After Man’s Body Was Found In The Halifax River

Daytona Beach, FL –  Update: The man whose body was found in the Halifax River near the Main Street Bridge on Tuesday has been identified as 48-year-old John David Lee Jr.

Earlier Reporting:

Daytona Beach Police (DBPD) are investigating after a couple reported finding a man’s body in the Halifax River at the southwest section of the Main Street Bridge.

The couple was walking west along the bridge at around 6:26 AM on Tuesday when the woman saw the body in the water, and she told her partner. The couple then alerted 9-1-1, according to DBPD.

Volusia County Beach Patrol was called to help move the body from the water, and the Criminal Investigations Division was also called to the scene.

This death is still being investigated, and more information will be released as it comes available. The Main Street Bridge was closed for nearly two hours while officials were on-scene.
