Daytona Beach, FL - Daytona Beach is facing a shortage of police officers, but over the last year or so DBPD has been on a hiring spree.

During the economic downturn, the number of officers on the street dropped. As of last August, the department was down about 40 officers.

If the city's proposed budget for next year is approved, DBPD is expecting to get $1.3 million more than this past year.
