Daytona Beach, FL - Detectives trying to find whoever robbed an elderly woman outside of a bank on the 4th of July are asking for your help to find someone connected to the case. The Daytona Beach Police Department says it happened around 3:30 p.m. yesterday at the Wells Fargo branch on the northwest corner of West International Speedway and Clyde Morris boulevards, right across from Halifax Health Medical Center and Mainland High School. According to DBPD spokesperson Lyda Longa, the person of interest is Jay Thomas (pictured below), who is wanted in Pennsylvania on a probation violation for robbery/escape and armed carjacking charges.   "When officers arrived on scene, they learned that a 79-year-old woman who had withdrawn money from the ATM had been shoved and robbed of $80," Longa added. The victim wasn't hurt and refused medical treatment at the scene by paramedics, per the incident report. It also shows the robber approached her while at the ATM and took the money out of her hand, knocking her to the ground. The suspect was last seen running away on foot in a northerly direction towards some nearby woods after the woman managed to activate the panic button on her car keys, according to a witness. The only description given of the suspect is that he's a white male who stands around 5'10 and was wearing a navy blue shirt and shorts. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Nate Williams at 386-671-5209 or williamsnathaniel@dbpd.us. Security video posted above is courtesy of DBPD.
