Update: Daytona Beach police (DBPD) now say that an incident on Tuesday, where a man reportedly gave out $1 bills to children at an apartment complex on Kennedy Rd. and persuaded two children to get into his vehicle, was a misunderstanding.
DBPD says the woman who called 911 to report the incident misunderstood the situation, and she actually knows the man who was in question. The case is now closed.

Daytona Beach police say they are investigating after a man reportedly gave out $1 bills to children at an apartment complex on Kennedy Rd. and persuaded two children to get into his vehicle.
The incident occurred on Tuesday evening at an apartment complex around 1221 Kennedy Rd. in Daytona Beach. According to police reports, the man pulled up to the area in a white Chevrolet Impala. Reports show that the man was handing out the money to several children in the parking lot, and the man also encouraged a 6-year-old and a 5-year-old to jump in the car.
The 6-year-old got into the passenger's seat, and the 5-year-old was sitting on the man's lap, and the man reportedly told the 5-year-old he could teach the child how to drive. The children quickly got out of the car after an older child called out to them, police say.
The man is described as a black man with short hair and several tattoos on his face. Some of the tattoos include pictures of handguns on both cheeks. If you have any information on the incident, please call Daytona Beach Police Department at 386-671-5100.
"I would urge parents to really keep drumming into their kids that they should never talk to strangers or walk away with a stranger, or get in a stranger's car," says Lyda Longa, Public Information Officer with Daytona Beach Police.
