Daytona Beach, FL - At its Wednesday night meeting, the Daytona Beach City Commission will decide whether or not to allow 3.7 acres of land on the east side of the Volusia Mall to be rezoned and redeveloped as a new restaurant and retail store district. The site for the development is currently the site of the Sears Auto Center, which is proposed to be demolished. The development would be located east of Bill France Blvd., off of International Speedway Blvd. Bonefish Grill and Metro Diner are two proposed tenants that could be moving into the development if the measure is approved by the Commission, according to City records. There would be room for four other tenants and a service court area.

According to City records, the development of the property may occur in a single phase or multiple phases, but the development would have to be substantially completed within six years of the agreement if it is approved by the City Commission. The Planning Board already approved the proposal for the new restaurant and retail district at its November 16 meeting. Copyright Southern Stone Communications 2018.
