UPDATE: The Medical Examiner has confirmed that the gunshot wound found in Adams’ head is what led to his death but the official cause of death is still under investigation.
Toxicology results will take around 4 to 6 weeks to complete.
Daytona Beach, FL - Officers are investigating after a woman finds a man dead in his truck in a furniture store parking lot.
Daytona Beach police say that a woman was walking towards Ashley's Furniture off of West International Speedway Boulevard last night (May 7th) around six o'clock when she saw a man slumped over the steering wheel in a black Honda pick up truck.
An officer who responded to the scene broke the window on the truck to get inside to check on the man, only to find that he was dead.
That man has since been identified as 23-year-old Alfred Adams, a former football player and recent graduate of Bethune-Cookman University.
"We are brokenhearted," said Interim President Hubert Grimes, Esquire. "Our thoughts and prayers are extended to Alfred Adams’ family, friends and loved ones. He will be greatly missed."
Investigators found a brown handgun in the truck near Adams' right hand and a bullet hole in the driver's side window.
A bullet casing was also found in the vehicle.
Reports show that the shot originated from inside the vehicle and struck Adams in the head.
An autopsy will be done this morning (May 8th).
