Daytona PD: Man Killed After Failing To Yield At Stop Sign

Daytona Beach, FL - Charges will likely not be filed after a fatal accident on beachside last night.

That's the word from the Daytona Beach Police Department following the accident around 9:30 p.m. Friday on the intersection of South Peninsula Drive and Frances Terrace, just 1/5th of a mile north of Silver Beach Avenue.

DBPD spokesperson Lyda Longa says two vehicles were involved - a Ford Excursion sport utility and a Chevy S10 truck - and that the man who died - Christopher Bonner - was driving the Chevy.

"[Bonner] was heading west on Frances approaching South Peninsula," Longa noted. "At that moment, the driver of the Ford Excursion was heading north on South Peninsula."

Investigators think Bonner failed to yield to the driver of the Ford Excursion - identified as Hunter Pinciaro - by not stopping at the stop sign, going through the intersection instead.

"[Pinciaro] - who had the right of way - stated that he saw the Chevy truck, but he thought the driver would stop at the stop sign," Longa noted. "[Pinciaro] stated that he drove through the intersection, but so did the driver of the Chevy pickup. The two vehicles collided."

Bonner died at Halifax Health Medical Center a short time after paramedics took him there from the scene, per Longa. Pinciaro refused treatment at the scene.

Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
