Daytona Int'l Speedway To Host First-Ever Triathlon

Daytona Beach, FL - Daytona International Speedway will make history this weekend with a different kind of racing at the track.

The World Center of Racing alongside ChallengeFamily and Case Imagine is bringing the "ChallengeDaytona" triathlon to DIS, with the events starting on Friday (December 7th) afternoon at 2 o'clock.

DIS and its 29-acre Lake Lloyd will be the center of all of the action for the main middle-distance triathlon scheduled on Sunday (December 9th) as well as a number of different events, including a middle-distance duathlon, split between biking and running.

An aquabike race which includes 1.2 miles of swimming and 3.1 miles of running is also on the event list, along with a 5K run/walk, a 10K run and a Pitstop Challenge where competitors race against the clock to change two bike tires.

A junior challenge for kids is also scheduled, which includes a 50-meter swim and a 0.6 mile run.
