Daytona Beach, FL-Update: 65-year-old Jerry Darnell is identified as the man found dead under a vehicle in Daytona Beach last weekend. His last known address was Haines City.

Earlier reporting follows: The man whose body was found under a car behind the ToysRUs on Sunday appears to have been living out of his car.  Officers found a wheelchair, a guitar, and several other items loaded inside.  An autopsy is scheduled for this afternoon.  Detectives are still working to notify the family

Police in Daytona Beach are investigating after the body of an older, white male was found under a car behind the ToysRUs at 2455 West International Speedway Boulevard. A 911 caller reported the body around 11:30 Sunday morning.

Police found the body of a man pinned under the vehicle.

Police Chief Mike Chitwood told media outlets this may be related to a hit and run case. He says the man may have been checking for damage to his vehicle when it rolled on him. The vehicle was involved in a hit and run Saturday night at Beville Road and Woodcrest. There were no injuries in that accident.

A call to dispatch at around 9PM said the vehicle was behind Big Lots on ISB. The vehicle was not located by police.

Investigators believe the man was cited for driving without a license and other traffic violations on Friday in Ormond Beach. Police say this is an ongoing investigation.
