Daytona Beach, FL – A Daytona Beach man was sentenced to death on Tuesday for the murder of David Lee Colvin in 1991.
A Volusia County Jury found 52-year-old James Guzman guilty of first-degree murder and robbery with a deadly weapon on April 27, 2016, after a 7-day trial and 4 hours of deliberation. Guzman has already been convicted twice for the murder of Colvin. He was sentenced to death on August 30 by Circuit Judge Terence R. Perkins.
It was on August 10, 1991 when Guzman allegedly used a samurai sword, or katana, to kill Colvin, who Guzman worked for. Guzman stole money and a ring from Colvin then sold the ring for crack cocaine and $350.
Guzman has previously served time for burglary, grand theft, second degree murder, kidnapping, and robbery.
