Daytona Beach, FL-Daytona Beach International Airport is getting ready for whatever Hurricane Matthew brings our way. Airport spokesman Jay Cassens says 72 hours before any type of weather event is forecast, preparation begins. Water on the runway and drainage is one of the biggest concerns as is high winds. Cassens says when winds go over 50 miles an hour the airport has to suspend emergency response operations. Cassens says when that happens no commercial air carriers can land. Check with your air carrier for information if you have a flight planned. Some arriving flights were already being canceled as of Thursday morning. Cassens was a guest on Volusia Today on WNDB.   2016 Southern Stone Communications Copyright
