Daytona Beach Firefighter Competes On CMT's Broken Skull Challenge

Axiotis-2 Daytona Beach, FL-Think of it as his "15 minutes of fame" to quote Andy Warhol. Daytona Beach firefighter James Axiotis is one of the eight contestants Sunday night on "Steve Austin's Broken Skull Challenge". The show airs at 8pm on CMT. Axiotis says he actually applied for season two but never heard from the show's producers. Season three changed that when he got the call to go through the auditon process and he made it. Axiotis says he thought he was strong enough for the show's physical challenges but was concerned about his endurance training so began doing stair climbing at the gym, bridge sprints and trained most days twice a day. Axiotis says he's taken some good-natured ribbing from his colleagues at DBFD Station #1 at Beach Street and Orange Avenue where he's stationed. He'll watch the show Sunday night with family and friends at the Houligan's in Port Orange. Axiotis has been a Daytona Beach firefighter for more than 6 years.
