Daytona City Commission OK's New 10K Square Ft. Field House For Municipal Stadium

Daytona Beach, FL - Update: At its Wednesday night meeting, the Daytona Beach City Commission unanimously passed a resolution to allow construction of a more than 10,000 square-foot field house facility in front of the Daytona Beach Municipal Stadium on LPGA Blvd. Earlier Reporting:  On Wednesday, the Daytona Beach City Commission will vote on a resolution to allow construction of a more than 10,000 square-foot field house facility in front of the Daytona Beach Municipal Stadium on LPGA Blvd. If passed, the measure would approve a public use permit for approximately 64 acres of City-owned property in front of the Municipal Stadium to be used for the construction of the field house facility. The property is located at 3917 LPGA Blvd. The field house would primarily be used by the DME Sports Academy, and the facility will also house locker rooms for the stadium. The facility will act as an extension of the Municipal Stadium. City records show that DME Sports, LLC is already approved to lease, manage, and operate the City-owned Municipal Stadium. if Wednesday's measure is approved, DME will lease, manage, and operate the field house as well. DME will be responsible for any capital improvements on the property. The lease-management agreement between the City of Daytona Beach and DME was approved by the City Commission on February 21 of this year. If Wednesday's measure is approved, it will amend the lease-management agreement, allowing the agreement to retroactively go into effect as of February 21. The public use permit for the stadium's field house property would go into effect immediately, if approved, and will end September 20, 2047, according to City records.
