Crash Between Motorcycle & Truck In South Daytona Leaves Man Seriously Injured

Daytona Beach, FL - A crash between a motorcycle and a truck in South Daytona on Thursday sent the driver of the motorcycle to the hospital with serious injuries. Police responded to the scene of the crash at about 3:55 PM on Thursday at the intersection of South Ridgewood Ave. and Big Tree Rd. 53-year-old Thomas Robert McDonough had been driving his motorcycle in the outside lane heading south on South Ridgewood Ave. and ran a red light, witnesses told South Daytona Beach Police. The driver of the truck, 22-year-old Michael Thomas Deeb, was north on South Ridgewood Ave. and trying to turn left onto Big Tree Rd., according to South Daytona Police. The motorcycle hit the passenger side of his truck. Police say when they arrived on scene, McDonough was found lying on his stomach on the west side of the intersection, close to the crosswalk. At the time, he was breathing and coherent, but immobilized. McDonough was transported to Halifax Hospital as a Trauma alert with multiple fractures, broken bones, and internal bleeding. After multiple surgeries, he is in stable condition. Deeb was not injured in the crash. Copyright Southern Stone Communications 2017.
