County To Expand Votran Service in Deltona & NSB; No Route To Be Added At Tanger

Volusia County, FL - On Thursday the Volusia County Council agreed to expand Votran bus service to the Walmart on SR-44 in New Smyrna Beach and to Howland Blvd in Deltona, both will come back for a final vote, but after a long workshop most council members agreed Tanger Outlets doesn't need bus service yet.

The council also said there's a need for holiday service in Daytona Beach.

Seeking direction from the council, Votran presented issues such as expanding services to 10 PM, increasing holiday service and adding several routes throughout Volusia.

Votran provided an estimated total cost for several options that increase their service to Volusia County, with a cost of $3,279,241 for their entire plan to improve bus service to Volusia County. Votran's policy discussion emphasized prioritizing the demands for services and funding.

All three of the changes the council agreed to would have to be approved at a later meeting. Votran will bring cost estimates for the changes at that time. If bus routes are going to be added, the county will either have to give Votran more money or cut other routes.
