County, FL-County officials are getting frequent briefings as a weather system that could become Hurricane Hermine chugs toward the Caribbean. The disorganized tropical wave is now 99L and is moving toward Puerto Rico and the Bahamas. The latest information says impacts in East Central Florida will most likely be felt sometime from Saturday night to Tuesday and says the area can expect an increasing threat for heavy rain and gusty squalls, even if the center of the system passes south of here. The threat for tornadoes could increase later in the track between late Monday-Tuesday depending on the eventual track, when and if the system emerges into the Gulf of Mexico. Heavy rainfall expected of 1-2 inches with isolated spots of over 4 inches. Those amounts are preliminary only and will be adjusted according to the track and forecast. The system now has a "high" chance of becoming a tropical cyclone over the next five days.
