Ormond Beach, FL-A suspect accused in the molestation of a young girl several years ago at an Ormond Beach home daycare has been arrested by Volusia County sheriff’s investigators.

The suspect, 49-year-old David Darin Bugno of Ormond Beach, was arrested on Tuesday without incident. He’s charged with lewd or lascivious molestation. Bugno and his wife, who ran the daycare, have since divorced and the daycare is no longer in business.

The molestation came to the attention of Sheriff’s investigators in April 2015. The girl, who is now 9-years-old,  told her mother about the abuse. She reported that Bugno touched her private parts and showed her pornographic videos when she was in daycare at Bugno Daycare between roughly 2008 and 2010. She would have been between the ages of 1 and 4 at the time. The daycare was south of State Road 40 and west of Ormond Beach city limits.

When investigators interviewed the victim’s mother, she told them that she thought Bugno could be trusted because of his job. Bugno is a corrections officer at Tomoka Correctional Institution.  He was arraigned on Wednesday and bond was set at $100,000.

Investigators are asking anyone who believes they have information about this case or any other victims at Bugno Daycare to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 386-254-1537 or Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida, toll-free, at 888-277-TIPS. You can also text your tip by texting TIP231 plus your message to CRIMES.
