Convicted Felon Found With Guns, Drugs And Ammunition In Orange City

Orange City, FL- An early morning raid turned up illegal drugs, two guns and ammunition at an apartment in Orange City on Tuesday. The Volusia Bureau of Investigation, armed with a search warrant, went into Unit 73 at the Oak Shade Apartments, just after 6 A.M. and arrested 36-year-old Alvin Charles. Public Information Officer Gary Davidson reports that evidence gathered during the investigation into convinced a judge earlier this week to issue the warrant. During this morning's raid, agents seized the guns and ammunition along with approximately 30 grams of cocaine, several ecstasy pills and small amounts of marijuana and hash oil. They also found drug paraphernalia commonly associated with drug dealing, such as plastic bags and digital scales. Charles admitted to agents that the items were his. He said he had been selling cocaine and bought the guns on the street for personal protection. Charles is facing a multitude of charges and is being held on $125,750 bond. Charles was out on bond stemming from an arrest last month. The charges from that arrest include grand theft of a firearm, battery on a law enforcement officer, possession of marijuana and resisting.
