Posted

Flagler County, FL - Residents of Flagler County responded in a big way for a local charity, The Sheltering Tree, the county's only cold-weather shelter for the homeless.

The Sheltering Tree reported over-capacity, jammed crowds at the Santa Maria Del Mar Catholic Church in Flagler Beach on Sunday, Feb. 26, and dubbed the fundraiser a stunning success. The event raised nearly $4500 for the Shelter.

Among area restaurants that donated food: Giovanni's Mezzaluna, Larry's Deli, Pasta Pasta, Rocky's, Anthony's Pizza, Terranova, Highjacker's and Olive Garden.

The Santa Maria Del Mar Catholic Church donated space for the event and Palm Coast entertainers "Debbie Owen and Tony T." provided music and entertainment for the crowds.

The Sheltering Tree has provided the homeless with food and extreme weather shelter since 2008. The Shelter is dedicated to providing basic needs to the homeless and assists with transitions to permanent affordable housing and prevents at-risk individuals from becoming homeless.
