Code Red False Alarm At NSB High School

New Smyrna Beach, FL - What could have been a scary situation turned into a false alarm today at New Smyrna Beach High School. Volusia County Schools Director of Information Kelly Schulz said a Code Red was issued after one student saw another with a gun and reported to a school staff member, who then informed the resource deputy. School officials found the 18-year-old student putting what turned out to be an airsoft gun in a trash can. The student was stopped and the weapon was recovered. No one was hurt and the code red was lifted. Schulz said the Code Red was issued as a precaution. VCSO reports that the student was arrested. No word on what the student may be charged with.
